Jelly Roll to Make WWE In-Ring Debut at SummerSlam

Grammy-winning singer and actor Jelly Roll is reportedly training to make his WWE in-ring debut at this year’s SummerSlam, according to a report from PWInsider. The lifelong WWE fan is expected to appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown to officially kick off the storyline.

A SummerSlam Storyline

The report states that Jelly Roll will be at SmackDown tomorrow night to begin the angle that will lead to his debut match. The storyline is expected to see him aligned with a “top babyface” for a match at the massive event, which takes place this August in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

While the identity of his partner has not been confirmed, the report notes that it will not be the current challenger for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Cody Rhodes.

A Long Time Coming

Jelly Roll is no stranger to the WWE Universe. He performed his hit song “Somebody Save Me” at last year’s SummerSlam in Detroit, and his passion for the business has been well-documented. In past interviews, he has spoken about losing weight with the hope of one day doing something more physical with WWE.

According to the PWInsider report, that time has now come. After months of training, the popular singer is finally ready to step inside the squared circle for his first official match.

Jelly Roll’s debut will continue WWE’s long and successful tradition of integrating celebrities into major storylines for their biggest shows. In recent years, performers like Bad Bunny and Logan Paul have been widely praised by fans and critics for their impressive in-ring performances and their clear respect for the wrestling business.
