WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Kevin Von Erich has officially signed a deal with All Elite Wrestling. The news was revealed by his sons, Ross and Marshall Von Erich, during a recent episode of their podcast, The Claw Pod.
“He’s On The Team Now”
While discussing their own upcoming appearances for AEW and Ring of Honor during the All In weekend in Texas, Marshall Von Erich broke the news that their father would be joining them, not just as a guest, but as an official member of the AEW roster.
“My dad is officially… he’s on the team. He’s with AEW now,” Marshall revealed. “And so, yeah, yeah, dude, we were, we were surprised, too. And we’re like, ‘What, Dad?’… and he’s like, ‘Yeah, man, I’m on the team now.'” Ross Von Erich clarified the nature of the deal, stating, “He’s basically got like, the, like, sort of a legends deal kind of thing, which is awesome”.
A Respected Locker Room Presence
Marshall went on to explain the value of having veterans like his father backstage to help guide the younger generation of wrestlers. “They still have tons of tools that will help younger guys,” he said. “And having my dad, guys like my dad in the locker room, you’ll get better.”
He also shared how surprised he has been to see which current top stars have been influenced by his family’s legacy. “Ross and I were impressed with the people that… really respect him. Will Ospreay… he loved our family, and he was really impacted by it… It shows that Will’s like a really, is a student. He studies it. Studies everything,” Marshall said, adding, “MJF watches World Class all the time too.”
Kevin Von Erich’s story and the legacy of his family were recently brought to a new generation of fans in the critically acclaimed 2023 film, The Iron Claw. His sons, Ross and Marshall, are currently wrestling in Ring of Honor.
