WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton is set to face legendary Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at this Sunday’s Evolution premium live event, but WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray believes the champion is miscast in her current role. On Busted Open Radio, he stated that Stratton’s run as a babyface “just didn’t work” and fantasy-booked a scenario to turn her heel.
A Miscast Champion
Bully Ray argued that since her call-up from NXT, Stratton’s character has lacked the key elements that allow fans to connect with a babyface. “I don’t know what makes Tiffany Stratton a babyface. I have absolutely no idea,” he said. “I don’t know where the relatability is. I don’t know where the people can latch onto her. I don’t know where they can care for her. All of these things that makes a babyface a babyface… she has a great moonsault, she has a pretty moonsault. Other than that, is anything else resonating with you?”
Host Dave LaGreca agreed, stating, “I think we all agree she’s miscast. Tiffany Stratton should not be a babyface. She should be a heel.”
“The Tiffany Experiment Didn’t Work Out”
Bully believes that if WWE has Stratus win the championship on Sunday, it would be a clear admission that their plans for Stratton have failed. “If they take the championship off of Tiffany Stratton and put it on Trish Stratus, they’re basically saying, ‘Alright, the Tiffany experiment kind of didn’t work out,'” he explained.
He then laid out an elaborate scenario for how to effectively turn Stratton heel at Evolution. He suggested having Stratus win the title, only for Stratton to viciously attack her post-match. “Tiffany slides back in the ring, bing, nails her right in the back of the head… beats the shit out of Trish Stratus with her own belt, beats her down some more… takes the belt, throws it back on her and leaves,” Bully pitched. “The next day, ladies and gentlemen, Trish Stratus… was beat up so bad… she has to forfeit the championship… Okay, that might get some heat on Tiffany.”
Tiffany Stratton will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Trish Stratus this Sunday, July 13, at the Evolution premium live event. The match marks Stratus’s 25th anniversary in professional wrestling.
