After successfully defending her Women’s Intercontinental Championship in a grueling triple-threat match at last night’s WWE Evolution, Becky Lynch made a bold statement, declaring herself the greatest female wrestler of all time.
Lynch Proves The Doubters Wrong
In a post-match interview with Cathy Kelley, Lynch reflected on her ten-year journey on the main roster. She spoke about how she has consistently defied expectations from the very beginning of her career.
“The odds are always stacked against me,” Lynch said. “We are talking ten years to the day I believe, that is right, ten years to the day since I came up and everybody doubted me. Everybody thought I was the underdog and I was gonna be the one to be pushed aside. That I was going to be a good hand but never really did anything.”
‘The Man’ Declares Herself The Greatest Of All Time
“The Man” then made her claim as the best to ever do it, citing not only her own belief but also accolades from outside sources like Sports Illustrated. Her resume includes being a seven-time Women’s World Champion, a Royal Rumble winner, and a winner of the first-ever women’s main event at WrestleMania.
“I am the definition of this business. I’m the greatest female wrestler of all time,” Lynch stated. “And it’s not just me saying it, other people have said it. Sports Illustrated said it and tonight I proved it once again.”
Lynch’s victory was one of several high-stakes championship matches at Evolution. On a night that saw Naomi win the Women’s World Championship and Tiffany Stratton retain the WWE Women’s Championship, Lynch has solidified her own place at the top of the division. With her win over Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, a new challenger is expected to come out for the Women’s Intercontinental Champion on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
