Seth Rollins has broken his silence regarding the knee injury he sustained during his match at this past weekend’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Filling in as a guest host on the Rich Eisen Show, Rollins confirmed he expects to be out of action for an “extended period of time.”
Rollins Details Injury And Expected Absence
Rollins explained how the injury occurred during his match against LA Knight and detailed the current medical situation. He noted that while a firm diagnosis is still pending, his body is telling him the recovery will take a while.
“I was doing a move I do all the time, a moonsault, and I landed on my feet. When I landed, I felt my knee kind of pop and buckle,” Rollins said. “Monday, I was in Birmingham, Alabama… We tried to take a look at the knee. There was some imaging; it was a little too swollen, so we’re going to take another look, hopefully in a week or two… What I feel is that this is going to be me out for an extended period of time.”
An Unfortunate End To Saturday’s Match
The injury happened after Rollins performed a springboard moonsault. After being checked on by the referee and a ringside official, Rollins was immediately hit with a BFT by LA Knight and pinned for the loss. Despite the setback, Rollins is already looking toward a return for WWE’s biggest season. “I’ve always got WrestleMania in the back of my mind,” he said. “Can I make it back for WrestleMania season? I feel good about that.”
Rollins’ injury and loss come at a pivotal time for his on-screen faction. This past Monday on Raw, Roman Reigns made his surprise return to WWE, attacking Rollins’ stablemate Bron Breakker. With Rollins now sidelined with an injury and coming off a loss, and Reigns seeking revenge against him and Paul Heyman, the faction finds itself in a vulnerable position with SummerSlam just weeks away.
