After his high-profile appearance at WrestleMania 41, rapper Travis Scott has been absent from WWE programming. New reports from both the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and TC WrestleVotes have now shed light on the situation, suggesting a lack of commitment and difficulty in training led to WWE’s plans being shelved.
Reports On Scott’s Lack Of Commitment And Training Issues
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported on why the planned celebrity tag match involving Scott never materialized. According to the report, Scott’s lack of focus was a major issue.
The reaction when asked about it was, “He doesn’t like to commit to anything. He goes half-in, and tries other projects at the same time. And since he’s a personal client of Ari, everyone tried to accommodate until it just became too much to deal with.”
Scrapped Plans For John Cena’s Farewell Tour
This report adds context to a previous one from TC WrestleVotes, which claimed Scott was “not a quick learner for the business.” It appeared that Scott was set to be a part of John Cena’s farewell tour, stemming from his interference at WrestleMania 41, where he helped Cena defeat Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
With the plans for Travis Scott seemingly abandoned, WWE has moved forward with John Cena’s final run as champion. Cena is now feuding with Cody Rhodes, and the two are scheduled for a face-to-face contract signing on tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown to make their Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam official.
