WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Roxanne Perez was a guest on The Hall of Fame podcast, where she discussed her recent championship victory, a “full circle moment” at Evolution 2, and her ultimate career goals in WWE.
Perez became one-half of the champions after stepping in for an injured Liv Morgan to team with Raquel Rodriguez. “Obviously I was sad for Liv. You know, injuries are always the worst,” Perez said. “But I knew that I could be the perfect person to step in for her and step in for the Judgment Day and make sure that they keep all the gold in the clubhouse.”
A “Full Circle Moment” with Mom
Speaking about the recent all-women’s Evolution 2Â premium live event, Perez described an emotional moment she shared with her mother backstage. “I remember watching the first Evolution with her and sitting there and telling her, you know, ‘one day I’m going to be a part of that. I’m going to be in there with all those women,'” she recalled. “Gosh, fly forward a few years later, I’m backstage with my mom, and we’re watching the main event together with all the women surrounding us, and it was just a really cool moment.”
Main Event Goals
Perez, who started training at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling school as a teenager, also spoke about her confidence growing to the point where she knows she belongs on the main roster. “Being in the ring with all those women, Alexa, the Kabuki Warriors, Charlotte, it’s… I had the sense of like, ‘no, yeah, I belong here,'” she stated. When asked about her ultimate goals, her ambitions were clear. “When it’s all said and done, I want to be a Grand Slam champion, and I want to Main Event WrestleMania.”
Roxanne Perez is scheduled to appear on this Monday’s episode of Raw in her hometown of Houston, Texas. As one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, she will team with Raquel Rodriguez to defend their titles against the team of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss at the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event.
