TNA Slammiversary Match Plans Changed On The Fly

A new report has revealed that former TNA World Champion Moose was legitimately injured during his TNA X-Division Championship match against Leon Slater at this past Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view.

Moose Injured Early In Slammiversary Match

According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, Moose was hurt on a hurricanrana spot from the apron to the floor early in the match. It was later reported that he sustained damage to his back and hip on the bump. Alvarez stated that despite the injury, Moose continued with the match, but they had to cut out several other planned spots due to his condition.

Match Plans Scrapped Due To Injury

“Believe it or not, they did that entire match with his back was bad enough that there was stuff they chopped out of the match later on,” Alvarez said. This new information adds context to Moose’s own announcement after the show that he was taking a step back to “get healthy.”

Despite the injury to his opponent, the match was still considered by many to be the best of the night, and it culminated in a historic moment. Leon Slater defeated Moose to become the youngest TNA X-Division Champion in the history of the promotion. It remains to be seen how long Moose will be out of action.
