According to a new report, the Jey Uso vs. Bronson Reed match scheduled for tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw was originally planned to take place at WWE SummerSlam.
A Change in SummerSlam Plans
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the one-on-one encounter between the two Raw powerhouses was initially slated for the big show this weekend.
Meltzer said, “Bronson Reed and Jey Uso was originally a SummerSlam match.”
Building to the Big Tag Match
With the singles match now happening on Raw, the new plan for SummerSlam is a major tag team bout pitting the recently reunited Roman Reigns and Jey Uso against Bronson Reed and his new ally, Bron Breakker. Meltzer expects tonight’s match to serve as the final build for that tag team encounter.
“I presume that this will just end up being something where, you know, Roman Reigns and, you know, and Bron Breakker end up interfering.”
Reigns made a surprise return to WWE television two weeks ago, which immediately inserted him into the ongoing feud on Monday Night Raw. Fans can tune into Raw tonight to see how the story unfolds just days before SummerSlam, which takes place this Saturday, August 2nd, and Sunday, August 3rd.
