Top WWE Star Was Considered For Role In ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

The new Adam Sandler comedy Happy Gilmore 2 features a number of wrestling stars, but a new report from Fightful Select has revealed that another top WWE name, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, was also considered for a role.

Cody Rhodes Considered For ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Role

According to the report, Rhodes was asked to read for an unspecified part in the film and had talks with the production team. Ultimately, however, scheduling conflicts prevented the opportunity from becoming a real possibility.

Wrestlers Take On Hollywood

While a role for “The American Nightmare” did not pan out, the film, which was released last week, is not short on wrestling talent. AEW’s MJF has a featured role as one of Adam Sandler’s sons, while WWE stars Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella both make cameo appearances in the movie. The project required an extensive filming schedule, which saw talents like MJF take months off from television.

While a role in Happy Gilmore 2 was not in the cards, Cody Rhodes is currently preparing for one of the biggest matches of his career. This coming weekend at the two-night SummerSlam premium live event, Rhodes is scheduled to challenge Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Street Fight.
