The new “WWE: Unreal” docuseries on Netflix is giving fans an inside look at the repaired relationship between CM Punk and Paul “Triple H” Levesque. In the series, both men open up about their past animosity, offering different perspectives on why they originally clashed.
Two Sides To Every Story
According to Punk, their issues stemmed from a competitive dynamic that shifted when Triple H moved into a corporate role. “Initially, Hunter and I clashed because I was a main talent roster full-time the same time he was… so there’s that competition,” Punk said. “Halfway through my career here, he becomes office and now I’m like ‘f*** you. You can’t tell me anything.'”
Triple H offered a different take, stating that a lack of trust was the core issue. “Punk would never let me assist, and he would then sometimes attack me,” Triple H said. “There would be moments where we’d have a meeting, and he’d come at me and I’d leave there thinking, like, ‘this little motherf***er…’ Punk didn’t trust me, and I didn’t trust Punk.”
A Mended Relationship
The two have since put their issues behind them, with both men praising their current working relationship since Punk’s return to WWE in 2023. This repaired dynamic has been crucial to Punk’s successful comeback, which has already seen him main event the first night of WrestleMania 41.
This coming weekend, CM Punk has the opportunity to capture his first world championship since returning to the company. He is scheduled to challenge World Heavyweight Champion, GUNTHER, in what is expected to be the headliner of night 1.
