One of the most talked-about revelations from the new “WWE: Unreal” docuseries was a creative pitch for Kevin Owens to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber. However, a new report from the Wrestling Observer is now claiming that the pitch was “complete bullsh*t.”
The ‘Seismic’ Pitch For A Kevin Owens Title Win
In the docuseries, Brian Gewirtz, a close confidante of The Rock, claimed that he and Dwayne Johnson had pitched an idea for the February pay-per-view. The plan would have seen Cody Rhodes refuse The Rock’s offer to be “his champion,” leading to The Rock making an impromptu title match where Kevin Owens would have shockingly defeated Rhodes to win the championship.
Reaction
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the revelation from the docuseries. He stated that he was told by his sources within WWE that the pitch was not a serious consideration.
“There was some stuff in there that was just complete bullsh*t,” Meltzer said. “I can’t say complete bullsht, although I was told complete bullsh*t, was the idea that they were considering Cody Rhodes losing the title to Kevin Owens at the Elimination Chamber.”
Meltzer later added, “Kevin didn’t even make WrestleMania because of the neck injury. But I just saw that, and I just thought, I can’t say it’s bullsh*t, but it’s a terrible idea. And then I was told it was kind of bullsh*t.”
Kevin Owens is currently on the sidelines in WWE for several months, dealing with a serious neck injury that led to him getitng surgery. There is currently no timetable for his return to the ring. We wish him a speedy recovery.
