With Pat McAfee on hiatus from WWE due to burnout, Corey Graves has returned to the Monday Night Raw commentary booth. A new report from Fightful Select has provided insight into the move and Graves’ value to the company.
Graves’ Versatility A ‘Gift And A Curse’
The report notes that when Corey Graves had previously expressed frustration about being moved from the main roster to NXT earlier this year, a WWE higher-up sympathized with him. One source described Graves’ versatility as a “gift and a curse,” because the company knows he can be slotted in on any show and make it work.
The ‘Revolving Door’ On Commentary
The same higher-up also told Fightful they expected Graves would be back on Raw or SmackDown by the summer anyway due to the “revolving door on commentary.” The report adds that WWE officials were already expecting to lose Pat McAfee around August or September for the college football season, and that the relationship between McAfee and WWE remains positive.
Graves has now officially rejoined Michael Cole at the commentary desk for Monday Night Raw. The duo will be calling the action for this weekend’s two-night SummerSlam premium live event. WWE has stated that Pat McAfee is welcome back when his schedule allows.
