Jim Ross On Vince McMahon: “He Loved To Be The Fastest Guy On Highway”

WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross has commented on the recent car accident involving Vince McMahon, corroborating longtime stories that the former WWE Chairman was a “reckless” driver and sharing his own experiences of riding with him.

Jim Ross Corroborates McMahon’s ‘Reckless’ Driving Stories

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross responded to a recent social media post from Jim Cornette, who claimed that both he and Ross were on a “long list of people who would refuse to ride with Vince driving.” Ross confirmed the sentiment and shared stories of McMahon’s love for speed.

“He drove recklessly. He loved speed. I was with him when he got stopped by the Ohio State police because he was driving too fast,” Ross said. “At some point in time, I got to thinking, ‘Maybe I need to change ways of passage. These speeds are uncomfortable.’… He loved to be the fastest guy on highway.”

Riding With Vince ‘Got Boresome’

Ross also noted that the dangerous driving wasn’t the only reason he stopped riding with McMahon. He explained that McMahon’s singular focus on business, even after the shows were over, became draining.

“I rode with him a lot… It was challenging because he never turned it off. It was always about business and what’s next. It got boresome,” Ross recalled.

Ross’s comments add historical context to the recent incident on July 24, for which Vince McMahon was issued a misdemeanor summons by Connecticut State Police. McMahon is facing charges of Reckless Driving and Following Too Closely Resulting in an Accident and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26, 2025.
