WWE’s Long-Term Plans For AAA

A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed what is said to be WWE’s long-term goal for its partnership with Lucha Libre AAA. According to the report, the plan is to eventually use the popular Mexican promotion as a “feeder system” for the NXT brand.

The Plan To Create ‘NXT Mexico’

In the latest newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported on the future of the WWE and AAA relationship. “The idea is to align AAA style closer to WWE style, and the idea is to use AAA as the Mexican feeder system for NXT, similar to the idea they had for NXT U.K.,” Meltzer wrote. “Essentially this becomes NXT Mexico.”

Learning The ‘WWE Methodology’

The report further details the logistical plan to achieve this goal. The idea is that “by the time they are called up to NXT, they can work WWE style and don’t have to be taught it.” To facilitate this, the report adds, “The Mexican coaches will be brought to Orlando to learn WWE methodology before they can start teaching.”

This report on the long-term vision for the partnership comes as the on-screen crossover between the two companies continues to escalate. On August 16th at AAA’s Triplemania XXXIII event, the AAA Mega Championship will be defended in a four-way match featuring three WWE-contracted superstars: Dominik Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano. It was also recently reported that WWE is strongly considering a plan that would see Dominik Mysterio win the championship.
