Chelsea Green ‘Upset’ That Women’s US Title Isn’t On WWE SummerSlam Card

The inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion, Chelsea Green, has expressed her frustration that the championship and its current holder, Giulia, are not scheduled to be a part of this weekend’s SummerSlam event.

Green ‘Upset’ With Title’s Absence From SummerSlam

Speaking on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Green shared her disappointment that the title she helped establish is not being featured on the massive two-night card. She feels the championship has lost some of its momentum since her reign.

“It definitely makes me upset. I feel like I really put in work with that title… So, it does make me upset. I feel like I laid the groundwork for this title to mean something and unfortunately we’ve taken a step back from that,” Green said. “But that’s not the girls fault. That’s just a fact that there’s so much good wrestling right now that we don’t even know how to fit in on TV.”

High Praise For Giulia, Ideas For The Future

Despite her frustration, Green had high praise for the current champion, Giulia, calling her an “amazing wrestler.” She also pitched several ideas to elevate the title, including a proper feud between Giulia and Zelina Vega, or having Giulia defend the championship against talent from NXT or Raw.

While the Women’s United States Championship is not on the SummerSlam card, the title will be defended on tonight’s go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The champion, Giulia, is set to defend her title in a rematch against the woman she won it from, Zelina Vega.
