Cody Rhodes and John Cena come face to face
John Cena thanked Cody Rhodes for forging his signature on the contract and making the match a Street Fight at SummerSlam because that was the boot in the ass he needed. Cena said I made a career out of hustle, loyalty and respect. Now I realize that five months ago I flushed it down the toilet chasing false glory when I bought into somebody’s crazy idea to make shocking TV. When the dust settled, everybody went back to their normal lives, and the people that were supposed to be on my team left me alone trying to pretend to be someone I’m not. I want to leave here as WWE Champion.
After my last match, I want to take this home with me, but not because I want to ruin wrestling. I love wrestling. I want to take this home so when I’m gone you won’t forget about me. He told Cody you did what a friend would do. You forced me to face it and you wanted a match. Not just any match, but a street fight. I’m going to show up at my best. If you want some, come get some, and the only platinum rapper that’s showing up to whip your ass is me. The champ is here.
Cody Rhodes said welcome back John Cena. Rhodes handed Cena a beer and they shook hands.
Earlier today:
Logan Paul saw Jelly Roll training in the gym. Jelly challenged Logan to get in the ring. Logan got in the ring. Drew McIntyre showed up and pulled Jelly off Logan. Logan held Jelly down while McIntyre hit him with the Claymore Kick.
Women’s United States Championship Match: Giulia (champion) (w/Kiana James) vs Zelina Vega
Vega hit a Back Cracker on Giulia for a near fall. She went for a moonsault off the top rope, but Giulia got her knees up. Giulia then hit the Northern Lights Bomb on Vega and pinned her.
Winner: Giulia
Backstage:
Solo Sikoa said the MFT is going to send a message tonight when Jimmy Uso gets a big boot across his mouth from Talla Tonga.
Legado Del Fantasma were introduced for their AAA World Tag Team Championship Match. Santos Escobar challenged any team to face them. Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown accepted the challenge.
AAA World Tag Team Championship Match: Los Garza (Angel & Berto) (champions) (w/Santos Escobar) vs Psycho Clown & Mr. Iguana
Los Garza hit the MTY on Iguana. Iguana made the tag to Psycho Clown, but he got hit with the MTY and was pinned.
Winners: Los Garza
Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre were asked backstage about their attack on Jelly Roll earlier today. They said they have nothing to say now, but they will say what they want about this later tonight.
Damian Priest vs Aleister Black
As Priest charged at Black, Black hit him with a knee. Priest pounced Black over the announce desk. As Priest cleared the announce desk, Black threw a steel chair at Priest’s face which caused the referee to call for the bell. Black pounded away at Priest. He then hit him in the back with the chair and drove it into his face. Black slammed the back of Priest’s head into the back of the ring steps and hit him with the Black Mass.
Backstage:
Tiffany Stratton told Jade Cargill she doesn’t want to hear any excuses when I beat you. Jade said there won’t be because there are no distractions and I’m going to finish what I started.
Talla Tonga (w/Solo Sikoa) vs Jimmy Uso
Jimmy knocked Solo off the ring apron with a superkick. He turned around and hit Talla with a superkick and a spear. Jimmy came off the top rope but Talla grabbed him by the throat, gave him a chokeslam and pinned him. After the match, Solo called out Tonga Loa and JC Mateo who beat down Jimmy. As the cage was lowering from the ceiling, Jacob Fatu slid underneath. With the cage fully lowered, Solo and Tall left through the cage door. Jacob hit Tonga and JC with a hip attack and a moonsault off the ropes.
Winner: Talla Tonga
Backstage:
Charlotte Flair said Alexa Bliss has had her back and I respect her even though she is super annoying. Bliss said Charlotte hasn’t been half bad and she’s had my back when I needed her.
Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre – Randy Orton & Jelly Roll brawl
Logan said we are trying to defend this place against outsiders. You can’t come from the outside and take it to the next level unless you’re Logan Paul. McIntyre said Jelly Roll only prays when he needs a favor. Well I’ve got God on speed dial and when I pray, bad things happen.
Jelly Roll showed up backstage with Randy Orton. They blew past Nick Aldis on the way to the ring. They got in the ring and all four brawled with security coming to the ring to try to break it up. Orton then hit two of the security guards and Jelly chokeslammed one of them to end the show.
