Former AEW Star Becomes First-Ever WWE ID Women’s Champion

Less than a year after the program was announced, WWE has crowned its first-ever men’s and women’s WWE ID Champions. The historic title matches took place on Friday at a GCW-promoted WWE ID Showcase event as part of SummerSlam weekend in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Kylie Rae Becomes First-Ever WWE ID Women’s Champion

On the women’s side, former AEW and TNA star Kylie Rae defeated Zayda Steel and Zara Zakher in a thrilling three-way match to become the inaugural WWE ID Women’s Champion. Rae was one of the first talents announced for the WWE ID (Independent Development) program in November 2024, and her victory marks a major milestone in her return to the national wrestling scene.

Cappuccino Jones Wins Inaugural Men’s Championship

In the main event of the showcase, Cappuccino Jones defeated Jack Cartwheel to become the first-ever WWE ID Men’s Champion. Like Rae, Jones was one of the first talents announced for the ID program. The WWE ID initiative is designed to create a developmental path for independent wrestlers, allowing them to gain experience and exposure under the WWE banner while still working on the independent circuit.
