During her dark, supernatural character phase, Alexa Bliss was rarely seen without her creepy companion, a doll named Lilly. The doll became a character in its own right, a focal point of her spooky vignettes, and even a best-selling piece of merchandise. Bliss recently opened up about the true meaning behind Lilly, explaining that the doll served as a coping mechanism and a tangible link to her time working with the late Bray Wyatt.
A Coping Mechanism
Lilly was introduced to the WWE fans during the storyline where Alexa Bliss was aligned with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. After Randy Orton set The Fiend on fire at the TLC pay-per-view, a distraught Bliss began carrying the doll, who she would talk to in unsettling “Alexa’s Playground” segments. On The Angle Podcast, Bliss revealed the character motivation behind the doll’s creation.
“Lilly started out as a coping mechanism to when Bray was burned alive by Randy Orton, which I’ve never forgotten about. It was just someone to talk to and someone to carry on you know filling that void of Bray being gone in that moment.”
This period saw Bliss fully embrace the supernatural elements of her character. Lilly was portrayed as having a mind of her own, capable of mysterious and often malevolent actions, all while Bliss descended further into a darker persona. The storyline was a major departure from anything else happening in the women’s division and allowed Bliss to showcase a different side of her performance skills.
A Piece of That Time
Even after Bray Wyatt’s departure from WWE and the eventual evolution of her own character back toward a more grounded version of herself, Bliss has kept Lilly as a part of her presentation. She explained that the doll now serves as a personal reminder of that unique and creative period in her career, a piece of that world that she never wants to let go of.
“And now it’s kind of doing the same thing for for me now for me it’s having that little piece of that time with me at all times because she became such a big character in that world and she’s something I don’t want to ever let go of.”
With the recent debut of The Wyatt Sicks faction, which is carrying on Bray Wyatt’s legacy, many fans have wondered if Lilly, and by extension, Alexa Bliss, could eventually become involved in their storyline. For now, Lilly remains a constant, if sometimes dormant, presence in Bliss’s career, a symbol of one of the most creatively “freeing and fun” moments she has experienced in WWE.
