AEW Star Will Be Out Of The Ring Until 2026 At The Earliest

Following Dustin Rhodes’ recent social media announcement that he requires major surgery, a new report from Fightful Select has provided more specific details on the nature of the injury and a potential timeline for his return. According to the report, Rhodes is expected to undergo double knee surgery and will be out of action for a significant amount of time.

A “Very Invasive Major Surgery”

In his original post on the social media platform X, Rhodes stated he will be “out for a while” after being told he needs a “very invasive major surgery”. He described being in a “terrible amount of pain” and apologized to his supporters, saying, “Sorry guys, feel like I failed my fans”.

Double Knee Surgery and Recovery Timetable

The Fightful report specified that the procedure is expected to be double knee surgery. According to sources spoken to by the outlet, Rhodes “isn’t expected back until 2026 at the earliest” as a result of the extensive recovery time needed for such a procedure. This confirms his statement that he will be missing “quite a bit of time”.

Fate of the ROH Championships

The injury also raises questions about the status of the Ring of Honor championships that Rhodes currently holds. He is one-third of the current ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions, and the Fightful report notes that the “fate of the titles that the holds in ROH are unknown” at this time. An announcement from AEW or ROH regarding the championship is expected in the coming weeks.

Despite the serious nature of the injury, Rhodes remained determined in his public message to fans. He concluded his post with his signature hashtag, vowing to “#KeepSteppin” through the difficult recovery process that lies ahead of him.

The entire wrestling community is sending its best wishes to Dustin Rhodes for a full and speedy recovery.
