Following the shocking return of Brock Lesnar at last night’s WWE SummerSlam premium live event, the legal team for former WWE employee Janel Grant has issued a statement about the move.
Janel Grant’s Legal Team Responds To Lesnar’s Return
In a statement released on Monday, a spokesperson for Janel Grant addressed Lesnar’s return to the company, accusing WWE of attempting to ignore serious allegations.
“For far too long, abuse was allowed to thrive under WWE’s leadership. Instead of righting this wrong, WWE has done nothing to ensure those responsible are held accountable,” the statement reads. “This attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug will backfire. We look forward to the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law where they belong but, in the meantime, we refer you back to Janel Grant’s updated complaint, which outlines, in detail, the abuse she endured by McMahon and others while employed at WWE.”
The Janel Grant Lawsuit
Lesnar has not appeared on WWE programming since SummerSlam 2023. He was named in Janel Grant’s amended lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, which alleges McMahon offered Grant to Lesnar as a “sexual pawn” to entice him to re-sign with the company in 2021. Lesnar is not a defendant in the lawsuit and is not accused of any wrongdoing. His return at SummerSlam saw him attack John Cena after the main event.
The statement from Grant’s legal team stands in stark contrast to the reaction from WWE leadership. During the post-SummerSlam show, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque praised the surprise, saying it was “incredible to have him back” and that his presence “changes the dynamic” of the company. It has been reported that Lesnar is now planned for a program with John Cena on Friday Night SmackDown.
