Roman Reigns Appears To Have Been Written Off WWE TV

The August 4 episode of Monday Night Raw concluded with a multi-person assault on Roman Reigns by the new World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and his allies, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. The attack appears to be the storyline reason to write Reigns off of WWE television as he is set to begin filming for a role in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.

The Main Event Aftermath

The show’s main event saw Seth Rollins defend his World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight. The match ended in a disqualification when CM Punk attacked Rollins. The post-match altercation grew to include Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, who aided Rollins in attacking both Punk and Knight. As Rollins, Breakker, and Reed stood tall, Roman Reigns’s entrance music played.

Reigns’s Arrival and the Ambush

Reigns came to the ring and initially took out both Breakker and Reed at ringside. He then entered the ring to confront Rollins, who evaded him by ducking out the other side. As Reigns was distracted by the recovering Breakker and Reed, Rollins re-entered the ring and blindsided Reigns with a Stomp.

Rollins and Reed held up Reigns, allowing Breakker to hit him with a spear. Reed then followed up with his signature Tsunami splash. While Breakker held Reigns down, Reed delivered a second Tsunami. Despite the arrival of Adam Pearce and other officials, Reed delivered a third Tsunami splash to the former champion.

Time Off for Hollywood

This on-screen attack serves as a storyline reason for Roman Reigns’s upcoming absence from WWE programming. It has been widely reported by multiple entertainment news outlets that Joe Anoa’i (Reigns) is scheduled to begin filming a significant role in a new Street Fighter movie this month. The production schedule for the film requires him to be away from the weekly demands of WWE television for an extended period.

The show closed with the new faction of Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed standing tall over a fallen Roman Reigns, asserting their dominance over Monday Night Raw. There is currently no official timetable for Reigns’s return to WWE television but he is advertised for Survivor Series in November.
