AEW Star Says Free Agency ‘Didn’t Even Really Cross My Mind’

AEW star and former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale has opened up about her recent decision to sign a new multi-year contract with the company, explaining why the idea of testing free agency “didn’t even really cross my mind.”

Willow Nightingale On Re-Signing With AEW

Speaking with the News-Herald, Nightingale discussed her new contract, which was reported to have been signed in May. “The idea of entertaining free agency didn’t even really cross my mind,” she said. “I mean, obviously, the thought was there because it’s a business at the end of the day, but I am so happy where I am, and I feel like my work here is so far from done.”

A Hungry And Evolving AEW Locker Room

Nightingale credited the competitive and supportive AEW locker room as a key reason for staying. She praised the environment where everyone is “hungry and trying to make everybody better.” “We all want each other’s spot. Whoever’s at the top — (AEW women’s world champion) Toni Storm, (TBS champion) Mercedes Mone — we all want to be you,” she stated. “That’s the company I want to be in.”

Nightingale’s commitment to AEW comes as she remains a key figure in the women’s division. She recently competed in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at the All In: Texas pay-per-view. On recent episodes of Dynamite, a storyline has been brewing showing a growing rift between Nightingale and her former friend, Kris Statlander.
