Bianca Belair Talks WWE Unreal: “We’re Trying To Change The Misconceptions Of Wrestling”

While the new “WWE: Unreal” docuseries has been met with mixed feelings from some veterans, currently injured superstar Bianca Belair sees a major potential benefit to the show. In a new interview, she expressed her hope that it will help build a new level of respect for professional wrestlers.

Bianca Belair Wants To Change Misconceptions

Speaking with Muscle & Fitness, Belair addressed the common criticism that wrestling is “fake.” She believes the new Netflix series can help change that perception by showing fans the immense amount of work that goes into the product. “We’re trying to change the misconceptions of wrestling because some people just think it’s fake and they immediately write it off,” Belair said. “If people really understood what goes into it, what goes into a storyline, what goes into it behind the scenes, what goes into it when things don’t go right in the ring.”

Building A ‘Lot More Respect’ For The WWE Art Form

“The EST” explained that the show could help people outside of the wrestling world understand the skill and artistry involved in a live performance. “There are so many moving parts. It’s not just about going out there and hitting the moves. It is about connecting with the audience. It’s about telling the story,” she stated.

“I think that if people really saw the skill and the art of it, and how it all comes together from start to finish… I think that people will develop a lot more respect for what we do.” Belair has been out of action since WrestleMania 41 with a finger injury but recently stated she is “closing in” on a return to the ring.
