A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed more light on Brock Lesnar’s status with WWE during his recent two-year absence from the company. The report reveals that “The Beast Incarnate” remained fully paid and under contract throughout his hiatus.
Brock Lesnar Was “Fully Paid” During WWE Hiatus
In the latest edition of the newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that even while he was not being used on television, Brock Lesnar “was among the highest paid wrestlers in the company.” This indicates that despite the controversy surrounding his name being mentioned in the Janel Grant lawsuit, WWE continued to honor his lucrative contract.
Lesnar’s Return Was Always The Plan
The report notes that Lesnar was never suspended by the company, and the fact that he was not released was a clear sign of their intentions. “If what he did was going to end their relationship with him, he’d have been let go. That’s the reality,” Meltzer wrote. “He was always going to return when legal cleared him. Legal cleared him about one month prior to the show, which was kept secret, and allowed for the return.”
Lesnar’s return took place in a shocking attack on John Cena at the conclusion of the SummerSlam premium live event last weekend. The fallout of that is expected on tonight’s SmackDown.
