WWE Has Invited A Former Champion To Attend Survivor Series In San Diego

In an exclusive interview on “Velvet Ropes,” former WWE Women’s Champion Lisa Marie Varon (Victoria) revealed that she was hurt by not being invited to participate in the all-women’s premium live event, WWE Evolution, in 2018. She shared how her friends in the business reacted and how WWE made it up to her with an invitation to another major event.

Feeling Left Out

Varon explained that she was a “huge fan” of the concept of Evolution and the mix of legends and current stars, but was disappointed that she wasn’t included. “And I wasn’t upset being invited until I saw that… I’m right behind Melina and Torrie,” she said, referencing a picture her friend sent from his front row seat. “And I go, ‘Oh, I would have loved to see Torrie.'”

Trish Stratus Reaches Out

Her longtime rival and friend, Trish Stratus, who did compete at the event, also expressed her disappointment that Varon wasn’t there. “Trish and I have a lot of history with our matches… And I text her, I go, ‘Oh, I just watched you.’ And she goes, ‘I was really upset you weren’t invited.’ And I go, ‘I felt like I was missing out, the fear of missing out, right?'”

A Survivor Series Invitation

While she missed Evolution, Varon revealed that WWE made it up to her by inviting her to another major event that holds a special significance for her career. “Survivor Series is coming to San Diego in November, I believe, and I’m already invited,” she said. “Because that Survivor Series is my anniversary of winning the WWE belt… my first championship.”

Friends Texting from the Show

The feeling of being left out was compounded by messages she was receiving from her friends who were at Evolution. “They were all texting me, ‘Hey, are you here?’ And I’m like, yeah… with some salt in the wound,” she laughed. “But I was like, ‘No, I’m not… I’m actually watching Dexter.'”
