CM Punk And Eric Bischoff Buried The Hatchet Backstage At WWE Raw

On his “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff shared the story of his first-ever in-person meeting with CM Punk, which took place at the recent Monday Night Raw tribute show for the late Hulk Hogan. Bischoff, who has been a vocal critic of Punk for years, revealed that the two men had a positive interaction and have seemingly buried the hatchet on their long-running public feud.

A History of Animosity

For years, Bischoff and Punk have exchanged public insults through their respective platforms. Bischoff has been critical of Punk’s attitude and things said about Hogan years ago, while Punk has often responded with his own sharp-tongued remarks. Their contentious relationship has been a long-running topic of discussion among wrestling fans.

A First-Time Meeting

The two men had never met in person until the Raw in Detroit, which brought together many legends to pay tribute to Hulk Hogan. Bischoff explained that he took the opportunity to address their past issues directly with Punk.

“I’ve Said Some Pretty Stupid Sh*t”

Bischoff recounted his side of their conversation. “I’ll just tell you what I said,” he began. “I said, ‘Man, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve said some pretty stupid sh*t. Just want you to know I’m glad to have an opportunity to meet you in person.’ I’ll give you my half of the conversation, and he can do with that what he wants.”

A “Classy Guy”

The interaction was clearly a positive one for Bischoff, who had nothing but good things to say about Punk’s response and his character. “His his reaction, the approach, the honesty is, is what made me a CM Punk fan,” he stated. “He’s a very honest guy.” He also added, “I got a pretty good feel for him and what he’s about. And I think when you actually get to know the person behind the character, you’d be surprised at just how solid some of these athletes are. They’re solid human beings.”

Putting Swords Down

When his co-host, Conrad Thompson, asked if the somber occasion of Hogan’s tribute was what led to them putting their “swords down,” Bischoff indicated it was more about the opportunity to finally speak face-to-face. “I don’t think it was that. I think it was, you know, again, here’s a guy that I never met in person up until that point,” he said.
