The mystery surrounding the WWE contract status of Karrion Kross and Scarlett continues. A new report from the Wrestling Observer indicates that even talent within the company believe the situation is a storyline, though WWE is keeping the details a closely guarded secret.
WWE Locker Room Believes The Karrion Kross Situation Is An ‘Angle’
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the ongoing contract negotiations. He reiterated that Kross has received an offer from WWE but had not signed it as of last week. The report notes that the prevailing belief backstage is that he will ultimately be back.
“The belief in WWE is he’s going to be back, but, you know, we’ll see,” Meltzer said. “They are not telling anyone anything, but everyone is pretty sceptical. It’s like are they working the boys on this if he comes back? You can say yes, but it’s not like they’re being fooled… They’re just sort of like, ‘We don’t know but we figure he’s going to be back and we kind of figure it’s an angle, but we don’t really know.'”
Karrion Kross’s Media Tour Restrictions
Adding another layer to the story, the report reveals that Kross is currently on a media tour to promote his new book, which was released last Tuesday. However, the book’s publisher, ECW Press, has reportedly told interviewers that they “cannot ask any questions regarding his contract situation, WWE situation.”
The situation “smells like an angle” to some, who believe WWE may be trying to replicate the successful storyline involving R-Truth’s brief departure and return from earlier this year. The talk has been fueled by recent high praise for Kross from WWE’s Paul Heyman, who compared his momentum to that of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Kross’s contract was reportedly set to expire this past weekend, just days after he competed at the SummerSlam premium live event in a losing effort against Sami Zayn. Whether his contract situation is a storyline or a legitimate negotiation, it has become one of the most talked-about situations in wrestling. The full report can be heard on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.
