Dominik Mysterio Discusses WWE’s New ESPN Deal And Surprise AAA Appearance

On “The TWC Show” podcast, WWE Intercontinental Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio discussed the recent major business developments for WWE, including the new streaming deal with ESPN and his own surprise appearance at AAA’s Triplemania event in Mexico City.

A “Massive Deal” with ESPN

When asked about the recent announcement that WWE’s Premium Live Events will be moving to ESPN in 2026, Mysterio spoke about the significance of the partnership. “You know it’s, it’s a massive deal for us, especially, you know, when you hear… any sort of sports news… you hear it off of ESPN, right?” he said. “So the fact that we’re on ESPN, you can get your premium live events on ESPN now, it’s just another massive platform that the WWE has put for their superstars to be showcased on.”

A Global Platform

He emphasized how these new deals with ESPN and Netflix have expanded WWE’s global reach to an unprecedented level. “It’s not only just Netflix. You got Raw on Netflix. You got SmackDown on USA, right? You got NXT on The CW… You can watch SmackDown, Raw and NXT all over the world if you have a Netflix,” he explained. “So, like, that’s huge for us… it’s an amazing opportunity for us. And I just can’t wait.”

A Surprise in Mexico City

Mysterio also discussed his shocking appearance in AAA, where he attacked Dragon Lee and AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo. He revealed that the appearance was kept a closely guarded secret. “No one knew that I was showing up. I flew in Friday. I think the show started at eight. I landed at like 6:30, went straight to the arena,” he said. “It was as secretly done as possible. And, man, it was surreal.”

Carrying on the Mysterio Legacy in AAA

The appearance was particularly meaningful for him due to his family’s long history with the promotion. “The fact that my deadbeat dad has history in AAA, my great uncle has history in AAA, Rey Misterio, Sr… My my cousin… that’s three Mysterios other than myself that have been in AAA,” he explained. “So the fact that I was able to show up, you know, as the greatest Mysterio of all time… it’s really cool, man. I solidified myself, I planted my flag there. And now it’s when you think of AAA, you think of this Mysterio right here.” The full interview can be heard on “The TWC Show” podcast.
