AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone has a strong message for her colleagues in the All Elite Wrestling locker room: if you aren’t passionate about the business, you shouldn’t be there.
Mercedes Mone On Passion In The AEW Locker Room
Speaking on the Marking Out podcast alongside The Hurt Syndicate’s MVP, Mone was asked if she agreed with his assessment that the AEW locker room is full of people who feel they have a lot to prove. She agreed and took it a step further, calling on anyone without that same drive to leave the company.
“I totally agree. If you don’t love it, if you don’t want to even try or grow or be the best, get the f*** out,” Mone stated. “Can I say that? Get out. Get the f*** out. Get the f*** out, because there’s so much talent that want the opportunity in that spot. So, give it to them.”
‘Where The Best Wrestle’
“The CEO” clarified that her comments were not directed at any one person, but were a general message that the company, which has the tagline “Where the best wrestle,” should be filled with people who are dedicated to helping it grow.
Mone’s comments come as she continues to establish herself as one of the leaders of the AEW women’s division. After suffering her first singles loss in the company to AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm at the All In: Texas pay-per-view, Mone is now focused on her next major title defense.
The TBS Champion is scheduled to defend her title against Alex Windsor at the upcoming AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view on August 24.
