AEW President Tony Khan has responded to a long-running criticism of his company, pushing back hard on the narrative that All Elite Wrestling lacks storytelling and calling that idea a “falsehood.”
Tony Khan On The AEW Storytelling Narrative
While speaking on The Superstar Crossover podcast, Tony Khan was asked what he believes to be the biggest misconception about AEW. He pointed directly to the narrative surrounding the company’s stories.
“I think the stories in AEW have been as strong as ever,” Khan said. “The wrestling people will say AEW is great. I think a lot of people would concede the action and wrestling- The athletic action is absolutely fantastic. Everyone agrees.”
He continued, “I think the stories in AEW have been fantastic this year, and we’ve been talking a long time about some of the great stories in AEW.”
A “Falsehood” About AEW
Khan acknowledged that some people still question the company’s ability to tell compelling stories, but he believes that is an untrue narrative that critics have spread.
“There’s people that would say that there’s a lack, and I don’t agree with this, I think it’s untrue, of stories in AEW,” he stated. “I don’t think that’s true at all, and it’s really, I think, not only a misconception, but a falsehood that people spread.”
