Tommy Dreamer: “There’s 10 Women Who Could Carry That Title Right Now” In NXT

On “Busted Open Radio,” WWE Hall of Famer Tommy Dreamer and Dave LaGreca discussed the current state of the NXT women’s division, praising its incredible depth and the company’s ability to consistently reload the roster with new, compelling talent. Dreamer stated that it’s “hard to argue” against the claim that NXT still has the best women’s division in all of professional wrestling.

A Stacked Roster

The conversation began with a discussion of the recent NXT main event, which featured TNA Knockouts and NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Kalani Jordan, Lola Vice, and Fallon Henley. LaGreca praised the in-ring work of Jordan and Vice, while Dreamer focused on the star power of the double champion. “I’m a massive fan of Jacy Jayne… she holds the TNA Knockouts title and the NXT title,” Dreamer said. “Her forearm is one of the best forearms. Her finish is one of the best finishers… She has great chemistry with everybody. She’s on top for a reason.”

Reloading, Not Rebuilding

LaGreca compared the NXT roster to the classic high school football movie “Friday Night Lights,” marveling at the brand’s ability to lose its top stars to the main roster and immediately elevate a new crop of talent. “Six months ago you had… Roxanne Perez, you had Stephanie Vaquer, you had Giulia. Like, you don’t have those names anymore,” he said. “And now you have to use… Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne and Lash Legend and Kelani Jordan… And I don’t know how they do it.”

Unparalleled Depth

Dreamer explained that it is this incredible depth that sets the NXT women’s division apart from all others. “There’s 10 women who could carry that title right now in that company, and that’s how good that division is,” he stated. “Where everybody is a credible challenger, potential champion in that company right now. I could literally name 10… They have an all-star team down there, Dave, in the women’s division.”

The Pressure to Perform

He also credited the highly competitive environment at the WWE Performance Center for pushing the talent to constantly improve. “Think of the coaching, and it’s non-stop. I would tell people all the time, like, ‘Hey, you’re being judged and evaluated. And if you don’t step up, look at the locker room you got,'” Dreamer explained. “You have to keep on elevating, or else your name is going to be moved and then somebody else is going to take that.”

With a mix of established stars, rising prospects, and talent from partnership promotions like TNA, the NXT women’s division continues to be a highlight of WWE programming. The full conversation can be heard on “Busted Open Radio” on SiriusXM.
