WWE Hall Of Famer Tries To Honor Hulk Hogan, Fans At Wrestling Show Wouldn’t Let Him

A recent independent wrestling show took an unexpected turn when WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas attempted to pay tribute to the late Hulk Hogan, only to be reportedly shouted down by the live audience. The incident was detailed in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The event took place at a Limitless Wrestling show in Lewiston, Maine, on August 9th. According to the report from Dave Meltzer, the 71-year-old veteran entered the ring to speak about Hogan. “At the show he tried to do a eulogy for Hulk Hogan,” Meltzer wrote, “and got booed to the point he just gave up.”

This public tribute attempt by Atlas is particularly noteworthy given his complex statements about Hogan’s funeral in an August 8th interview with the Portland Press Herald. In the interview, Atlas revealed he was not invited to the service. “I’m kind of glad that they didn’t invite me because then I would only have been there for the money, not for him.”

In the same interview, Atlas shared that he and Hogan had spoken just a few months before his passing, indicating they had maintained a connection. “He called me three months ago,” Atlas said. “You know the first question I asked him? I said, ‘How did you get my number? He said, ‘I always keep up with you.’”

The crowd’s reaction at the Limitless Wrestling event, however, prevented the tribute from happening. The incident, as reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
