MJF To Wrestle In Mask Vs. Title Match

At last night’s event in the historic Arena Mexico, a Mask vs. Title apuestas match was set between the legendary Místico and the reigning CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion, AEW’s MJF.

The main event of the August 15 show saw MJF make his first defense of the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship against Zandokan Jr. The finish came after the referee was knocked down, allowing MJF to hit a low blow and lock in a Fujiwara Armbar for the submission victory. After the match, MJF stole Zandokan Jr.’s mask, which brought out Místico. After a heated back-and-forth, the two agreed to the high-stakes apuestas match.

The bout will be Místico’s first apuestas match since 2017 and one of the rare times he has ever put his iconic mask on the line. For MJF, this will be the first apuestas match of his career, a true trial by fire in the heart of Lucha Libre.

The Mask vs. Title match is the latest addition to the card for CMLL’s 92nd Anniversary event on September 19th.
