Becky Lynch recently recalled the time her tour bus caught on fire in the middle of the night, forcing her, her husband Seth Rollins, and their young daughter to evacuate to a gas station.
A Birthday Surprise
Speaking with Cody Rhodes on his podcast, What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Lynch told the wild story. The fire happened on her 36th birthday, while the family was traveling from Tulsa to Iowa. She was woken up by their bus driver, Andy, yelling that there was a fire and they needed to get out immediately.
“Our bus exploded too… It was my birthday. Actually, it was my birthday, my 36th birthday. I hear bang, bang, bang. And it was Andy gone, get out. There’s a fire. And I had Rue on the bus. So I wrapped her in a blanket, and I ran in. I don’t have shoes on.”
Barefoot in a Gas Station
Lynch then described the surreal scene of her family, all barefoot, taking refuge inside a Kum & Go gas station while their bus driver became an impromptu firefighter. The gas station attendant, however, seemed more concerned about his fire extinguisher than the family’s well-being.
“We’re at this Kum & Go. That’s the name of the place… We run into this place. We’re not wearing shoes. I’ve got a little baby like Colby, runs in, also not wearing shoes. Nobody’s wearing shoes. Everybody’s cold in the Kum & Go in and then Andy runs in. He’s like, ‘You got a fire extinguisher?’ The guys, I swiped the Snickers bar. It’s over there. And then Andy runs out, zap, puts out the fire, and then that was it… And then so Andy, then comes back. Everybody’s like, white shell shocked got a little baby with me, like all of us barefoot, and the guy goes, ‘You gonna bring my fire extinguisher back?’”
