Mercedes Mone Reacts To WWE Counter-Programming AEW: “I Don’t Care About Them”

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone has weighed in on WWE’s recent strategy of running premium live events on the same day as AEW pay-per-views. In a new interview, Mone stated that she “doesn’t care about them” and that AEW will “always be better.”

Mercedes Mone On WWE Counter-Programming

Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, the “CEO” was asked for her thoughts on WWE’s new competitive approach. She was dismissive of the idea that the competition was heating up.

“I don’t watch them. I don’t care about them. I’m “Eight Belts Moné.” I’m a champion of so many different companies. So, the more the merrier,” Mone said. “If they want to put on wrestling shows while we have wrestling shows, I’m always going to be better. I’m always better. That’s why I call myself “The CEO.” They can keep on doing whatever they want to do, but AEW is taking over. If you want to watch the best, good wrestling, watch AEW.”

When the interviewer noted that the competition was heating up, Mone simply replied, “No it’s not.”

An AEW And WWE Showdown

Mone’s comments come as the two promotions are set for a head-to-head clash on Saturday, September 20. AEW’s All Out pay-per-view from Toronto will go directly against WWE’s newly announced Wrestlepalooza event from Indianapolis.

This follows a trend from WWE in 2025, which has seen them schedule their NXT premium live events on the same days as AEW’s pay-per-views, including this weekend’s Forbidden Door. NXT Heatwave will air a few hours after AEW’s show this weekend.

She will defend the AEW TBS Championship in a four-way match against AEW’s Alex Windsor, Stardom’s Persephone, and CMLL’s Bozilla at Forbidden Door. The full interview with Mercedes Mone can be found on TV Insider.
