The recent mention on AEW Dynamite of Swerve Strickland dealing with a knee injury is reportedly based on a real-life issue. A new report from Fightful Select has confirmed that the top AEW star is currently working with a torn meniscus, an injury that could affect his immediate future.
Swerve Strickland’s Torn Meniscus Injury
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, this is not a new issue, as he has actually had a tear in his meniscus since 2019, when he was training at the WWE Performance Center. At that time, he rested for four weeks and was able to return to action.
The report adds that the medical staff of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars is helping him with his current recovery. However, there is a possibility that he could require surgery, which would force him to take time off from the ring.
A Pivotal Time For Swerve Strickland
He was reportedly going to take time off after the All In: Texas pay-per-view in July, but those plans were changed. This Sunday, August 24, at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view from Wembley Stadium in London, Swerve Strickland is scheduled to challenge Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship.
The full report on his injury status can be found on Fightful Select.
