What’s Next For The AEW TNT Champion? Kyle Fletcher Lays Out His Ambitious Plans

Kyle Fletcher on His Goals as TNT Champion and Future Aspirations

Following his successful TNT Championship defense against NJPW’s Hiromu Takahashi at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, a confident Kyle Fletcher addressed the media to discuss his victory, his journey as a singles competitor, and his ambitious goals for the future. Fletcher made it clear that he intends to be a fighting champion and has his sights set on every title in All Elite Wrestling. Scroll down to watch the video from the press conference.

On Being the TNT Champion

When asked what it means to represent the TNT Championship after his win in London, Fletcher spoke about the significance of the accomplishment. “Man, it means very, very much to me, personally and professionally,” he said. “I think it’s the biggest achievement to date for me. The lineage is incredible up until this point, and I plan to be the greatest champion. Yep, that is, that is the goal. So it’s, yeah, you gotta look at the list of people that have held it before and go, ‘Okay, I gotta be better than this person, this person.’ What am I gonna do? So, yeah, looking at it as an exciting challenge, for sure.”

The Transition to Singles Competition

Fletcher also addressed his transition from being a renowned tag team specialist as one-half of Aussie Open to becoming a singles champion. He explained the challenges that came with his partner, Mark Davis, suffering repeated injuries. “I think one of the challenging parts of being in a renowned tag team is it’s like, if one person goes down, you’re kind of at a standstill, right?” Fletcher explained. “So I think Davis, Mark Davis, has had some bad luck with injuries… and it sucks for me as a friend to see that, but from a career perspective, every time that would happen, it was a standstill for me as well.”

He credited Don Callis for giving him a chance to shine on his own during Davis’s absence. “I think it was just lucky that Terry saw something in me and gave me an opportunity when Davis got hurt,” he said. “And from there, it was just, I just wanted to do the best I could with everything I was given and just make the most out of everything… the opportunities got bigger and bigger, slowly, slowly, and I hopefully just kept smashing them out of the park.”

A Fighting Champion with a Hit List

Looking ahead, Fletcher declared his intention to be a fighting champion and prove he is the best in the world. “I would love to be a fighting champion, just purely to prove that I am the way I say,” he stated. “I talk a lot of smack but then I hope I can back it up… I want to prove that I’m the best professional wrestler in the world. So I want to bring on all challenges, anybody, anyone.”

He then named several wrestlers on the AEW roster that he has his sights set on for future title defenses. “I have people that I love to be in the ring with,” Fletcher said. “You know, I could list a million of them. I’d love to run it back with Kyle O’Reilly, Mark Briscoe, Roderick Strong, never, never, never touched. Yeah, would love to do that. And, man, you could literally go down the roster.”

All Championships in His Sights

While his immediate focus is on his TNT Championship reign, Fletcher made it clear that his ultimate ambitions include every title in AEW, even those held by his fellow members of the Don Callis Family, like the AEW Unified Champion, Kazuchika Okada. “I think no championship is totally off limits,” he said. “The unified championship is quite a pretty championship, if I say so myself. So yeah, I would love to see it around my waist as I would love to see the world title around my waist, the Tag Team titles, the trios titles, they’re all coming home at some point without a doubt. So, yeah, stay tuned.”
