AEW World Trios Champion Samoa Joe is set to return to the independent wrestling scene for the first time since 2015. He has been booked for a match for the Arizona-based promotion, IZW (Impact Zone Wrestling), this November.
Samoa Joe’s First Independent Match In A Decade
IZW announced on its Facebook page that Samoa Joe will face Navajo Warrior at their “IZW Long Live The King” event on Saturday, November 8. This will be Joe’s first independent wrestling match since August 2015, just before he officially signed with WWE NXT.
A Retirement Match For Navajo Warrior
The bout is being billed as the official retirement match for the 55-year-old Navajo Warrior. He has been wrestling since the early 1990s and made appearances for WWE in the past under the name Shawn Dakota.
Joe is fresh off a successful defense of the AEW World Trios Championship at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view last night. The official announcement and ticket information for the November 8 event can be found on the IZW Facebook page.
