The Godfather Recalls Confronting A Former WWE Star Who Said Racist Things To Him

During a recent episode of “Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw,” Charles Wright, famously known as The Godfather, recounted a physical altercation he had with the late Ludvig Borga (Tony Halme) during a WWE tour in Germany. Joined by Ron Simmons and John Bradshaw Layfield, Wright confirmed that the incident was sparked by a racist comment from Borga.

The story was brought up by Ron Simmons. JBL set the scene, recalling the event took place in a bar in Bremen, a northern town in Germany. At the time, Wright was working under a different gimmick. “I don’t know Godfather, he’s over there as maybe Papa Shango or I was—” JBL began, before Wright clarified, “Las Vegas… might have been Papa Shango.”

Wright explained the reason for the confrontation, stating that Borga’s personal beliefs played a direct role. “He said something. He was a racist… but he was in part of some, not KKK, but whatever they have where he’s from, he was part of that,” Wright said. Gerald Brisco interjected, suggesting, “I think it’s called Nazi.”

The situation escalated quickly after Borga directed a comment at Wright. “He said something stupid to me and I reacted,” Wright stated plainly. Ron Simmons confirmed the outcome, adding, “Well, his ass down now.” Wright agreed, confirming Borga was on the ground after the interaction.

JBL, who witnessed the event, noted that the confrontation ended there. He described Borga as a “tough guy” but one who “didn’t want to mess with Godfather” after the initial incident. Click below to hear the story.
