A new report from Fightful Select has provided insight into how WWE talent feels about the company’s reduced non-televised live event schedule. The consensus among those spoken to is that they “much prefer the current schedule.”
WWE Talent Prefer The New Schedule
Fightful reached out to a number of wrestlers who are currently on WWE’s European tour, which features a series of live events. One longtime talent expressed their satisfaction with the new model.
“I don’t miss house shows at all. They’re fun to wrestle on, but the current method is much better,” the talent said. “It makes sense that they still do them here and there, and it makes them much more special.” Another talent noted that having the live events effectively cut by two-thirds has made them more “enjoyable for them to work.”
WWE’s Multi-Pronged Decision
The decision to scale back the domestic live event schedule was reportedly a “multi-pronged decision related to costs, scheduling, keeping talent healthy and the weighing pros and cons.” WWE has run only 15 house shows for the main roster through August of this year, compared to nearly 50 through the same period in 2023.
A WWE higher-up told Fightful that there are currently no talks of increasing the house show schedule outside of international tours, where they still do good business. The reduced schedule has also reportedly “helped with contract negotiations as well, with the dates coming down significantly.” The full report can be found on Fightful Select.
