Maven Recalls Heated Moment With Vince McMahon: “Vince Jumped My A** Backstage”

Former WWE Superstar Maven recently shared a wild backstage story about a time when he accidentally injured Gene Snitsky during a pay-per-view match, a mistake that led to an immediate and intense confrontation with a furious Vince McMahon.

Accidents are an unfortunate but common reality in the world of professional wrestling.  Appearing on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Maven set the scene. He was in a main event pay-per-view match and had been instructed by producers to be a “house of fire.” In his adrenaline-fueled state, a flying forearm went awry, resulting in a legitimate injury to his opponent, Snitsky.

“Yeah, I was amped, because we’re coming in and pay-per-view. I’ve been in the back selling and they told me, before I went out. They were like, this is your spot to shine in this main event match. They told me they were like, we need you to be a house of fire. And, man, I just overdid it. I had thrown endless number of flying forearms, and that one, I still remember hitting him and feeling the crunch and being like, Oh God.”

Maven then described what happened as soon as he returned through the curtain. He was immediately met by Vince McMahon, who was irate about the injury and demanded that Maven go check on his opponent, all while Maven himself was bleeding from a chair shot he had taken in the match.

“Vince jumped my ass backstage for that too. Soon as I came back through, Vince meets me, he jumps up from the monitor, meets me at gorilla just yelling at me for being dangerous. And he’s like, ‘You better go check on Snitsky now!’ I’m sitting there bleeding, just got took a chair shot. You know, I’m fine. Vince, thanks.”
