WWE has made a series of new trademark filings, securing the rights to the names “Succession,” “WWE Films,” and “Reckoning.” The filings, which were made on September 4th, are for entertainment services.
The most intriguing of the new filings is for the term “Succession.” The name, which is famously associated with the hit HBO television series. The other two trademarks filed on the same day are for “WWE Films” and “Reckoning.”
The “WWE Films” trademark is likely a standard renewal to protect the name of the company’s long-standing film production division, which has produced a number of movies over the years starring WWE superstars. The filing for “Reckoning” is a callback to the name used by superstar Mia Yim during her time as a member of the Retribution faction in 2020.
The “goods and services” description for all three filings covers a wide range of wrestling-related performances and media, including live events, televised appearances, online content, and fan club services. This broad description is standard for WWE trademarks and gives them the flexibility to use the names in a variety of ways.
