The war between WWE and AEW is set to continue, and according to a new report, WWE has no plans of letting up on its counter-programming strategy. The recent decision by AEW to move its All Out pay-per-view to an afternoon start time to avoid going head-to-head with WWE’s Wrestlepalooza is the latest development in the war.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez discussed the situation, stating that his sources within WWE have told him that the company will continue to target AEW with its scheduling. “I’ve pretty much been told this from people in WWE, it’s like, that’s it. They’re gonna go after them and they’re gonna keep it up,” Alvarez said.
Alvarez went on to predict that the “war” could escalate even further, with WWE potentially moving its own shows earlier to start times in response to AEW’s changes. “I don’t think it’s going to happen for this show. The day is gonna come where WWE counterprograms, AEW moves a show, and then WWE moves their show,” he predicted. “It’s gonna happen at some point. They’re gonna screw with [Tony Khan] because now they know this guy’s gonna blink, he’s gonna move his show.”
The decision by AEW to move All Out to a 3 p.m. ET start time was made after WWE announced its Wrestlepalooza premium live event for the same night, September 20. This will be the first time a main roster WWE PLE will go head-to-head with an AEW pay-per-view. Throughout 2025, WWE has consistently scheduled its NXT premium live events on the same day as AEW pay-per-views.
