The shocking return of AJ Lee to WWE after a decade-long absence has been met with a wave of excitement from both fans and wrestlers. Perhaps no one is more excited than former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Roxanne Perez, who has been a vocal and lifelong fan of the former Divas Champion.
In a post on X, a fan claimed that AJ Lee’s return on the September 5 episode of SmackDown was the “greatest return in the history of women’s wrestling.” Perez took it a step further, arguing that it was the best return in wrestling history, period, regardless of gender.
It is no surprise that Perez is so excited by Lee’s return. “The Prodigy” has often cited AJ as a major inspiration for her own wrestling career. In past interviews, Perez has even stated that she cannot retire until she gets the opportunity to have a match with AJ Lee, a dream match that is now a possibility with Lee’s return to the company.
Roxanne was a dedicated fan of Lee’s, often showing her support for Lee at live events and even dressing up as her for Halloween. Perez and Lee have not yet had an on-screen interaction since Lee’s return. However, with AJ expected to appear on this coming week’s episode of Monday Night Raw to continue her storyline with her husband, CM Punk, and their rivals, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, a meeting between the two could be just days away.
