For decades, one of the most infamous and stomach-churning stories in wrestling folklore has been the tale of the late Mr. Fuji cooking a wrestler’s dog and feeding it to him. For years, the alleged victim of this cruel prank was identified as Adnan Al-Kaissie, best known to WWE fans as General Adnan. Now, the family of Al-Kaissie has taken to social media to state definitively that the legendary story is not true.
The rumor has been a staple of “shoot” interviews and wrestling podcasts for years, passed down from one generation of wrestlers to the next. The story recently resurfaced when Demolition’s Barry Darsow (Smash) recounted the version he had heard on their “DEMOPOD” podcast. Darsow explained that the prank was supposedly revenge because Adnan had a habit of eating Fuji’s homemade sandwiches.
“The story I heard was… He went over and got his dog and cooked his dog up. Had a bag lunch sitting right there. Adnan started eating the sandwich,” Darsow recounted. “He goes, ‘it’s your dog.’ And I heard Adnan threw up.”
With the story making the rounds online once again, the family of Adnan Al-Kaissie, who passed away in 2023, decided to put the rumor to bed for good. Using his official legacy account on X, his family issued a clear and direct statement denying the story ever took place.
“Just to clear things up: the story about Mr. Fuji killing and cooking our father’s dog is a tall tale that got passed around the wrestling circle,” the post stated. “Our father said flat-out Fuji never touched his dog and he had no idea how that rumor even started.”
Adnan Al-Kaissie was a prominent figure in the early 1990s in the then-WWF as General Adnan, an Iraqi sympathizer who managed Sgt. Slaughter during his controversial heel turn. Alongside Colonel Mustafa (The Iron Sheik), the trio formed the Triangle of Terror, becoming top villains during the time of the first Gulf War.
The reason the story was so believable for so long was due to Mr. Fuji’s well-earned reputation as one of the most notorious pranksters, or “ribbers,” in the history of the business. His pranks were often elaborate and sometimes cruel, which made the shocking story of the dog seem plausible to many within the industry. However, with the definitive statement from Al-Kaissie’s family, one of wrestling’s wildest urban legends has now been officially debunked.
