Former two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Dakota Kai has spoken out for the first time since her release from the company in May of this year. In a recent livestream, Kai admitted that she misses wrestling but has also enjoyed the break from the demanding schedule of the industry.
During the livestream, Kai reflected on her long career in the business and the toll it can take on a performer. “I miss wrestling, you guys. I got to get back into it. It’s just one of those things where it has been nice to have a little bit of a break,” she said. “I have been doing it for a long time. Longer than the last seven years that I was in WWE. You know what I mean? It is nice to take a step back for a while, but I really do miss it.”
Kai’s release in May was a surprise to many fans, as she was a member of the Damage CTRL faction alongside Bayley and IYO SKY at the time. The group would continue for a period without her before eventually going their separate ways.
Since her release, Kai’s name has been a hot topic in the wrestling world. It has been reported that both AEW and TNA Wrestling have expressed interest in signing the talented veteran. With her 90-day non-compete clause having recently expired, she is now a free agent and able to sign with any promotion.
On her Twitch stream, Dakota Kai said it’s been nice to have a break from wrestling, but she does miss it:
“We’re gonna get back into it.”
