Saudi Arabia Reportedly Pushing For Certain WWE WrestleMania 43 Matches

With the news that WWE is planning to hold WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia in 2027, a new report from the Wrestling Observer has shed light on the plans the Saudi partners have for the event. According to Dave Meltzer, they are “working really, really hard” to secure a number of high-profile matches for the show, and “money is no object” in their pursuit of the biggest names in wrestling history, including those who are currently retired.

The 2027 date for the event marks the 300th anniversary of the founding of the First Saudi State. The Saudi General Entertainment Authority, led by Turki Alalshikh, is reportedly determined to make the event the “most star-studded show ever, by far.”

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer detailed the plans for the show. “They’re paying the money for it and they have matches that they want and they’re working really, really hard to get,” he said. “I don’t know if they’re going to be able to get them but they’re going to spend a lot of money to get what they want….Yes, we’re talking about anyone coming out of retirement that wants to come out of retirement of big name value will be able to get a lot of money on this show.”

The report suggests that any retired legend who is interested in coming back would likely be contacted about appearing on the show. “I would presume all of those people would be contacted and the ones who want to do it will be able to,” Meltzer continued. “The ones who have any interest in a great payday, they’ll be able to get on that show.” This opens the door to a number of dream matches that fans have been clamoring for for years.

The potential for a WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia has been a topic of discussion for some time, and it was recently reported that there have even been talks of a “two WrestleMania year” to accommodate both the international event and the traditional domestic show.
