After a summer of head-to-head competition, a new report from WrestleVotes indicates that WWE has no further plans to counter-program AEW’s pay-per-view events for the remainder of 2025. On the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio, a source with direct knowledge of WWE’s remaining 2025 schedule provided the information.
“According to a source with direct knowledge of WWE’s remaining 2025 schedule, there doesn’t appear to be any more counter-programming against AEW pay-per-views for the rest of the year,” the report stated. The source confirmed that WWE has nothing on its calendar that is scheduled to directly oppose AEW’s three remaining pay-per-view events in 2025. This is a significant shift from the strategy that has been in place for the past several months.
The report then detailed the specific dates. On October 18, the same day as AEW’s WrestleDream, WWE is scheduled to be in Japan for a SuperShow, but the time difference would prevent any real head-to-head competition. On November 22, when AEW presents Full Gear, WWE currently has nothing booked, with their Survivor Series event taking place the following weekend.
Finally, on December 27, the date of AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view, WWE will be running two non-televised “Holiday Tour” live events in Tampa and Pittsburgh. WWE was considering moving John Cena’s retirement match to that date to directly compete with AEW’s show.
Throughout the summer, WWE has consistently scheduled its NXT premium live events on the same days as major AEW shows. The upcoming Wrestlepalooza on September 20 will be the first time a main roster WWE PLE will go head-to-head with an AEW pay-per-view, All Out.
