There was a lot of talk about Becky Lynch’s controversial promo in Birmingham, England, where she referenced the recent passing of local legend Ozzy Osbourne. The comments drew a statement from Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who called Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag.” In a new interview, former WWE Superstar Shotzi Blackheart offered a different perspective on the situation.
Speaking on the TMZ Inside The Ring podcast, Shotzi, a vocal Ozzy Osbourne fan herself, explained that while she feels for the Osbourne family, she does not believe Becky Lynch’s comments came from a place of malice. She attributes the controversy to a simple matter of bad timing.
“I feel for Kelly because I was so close to my father, and when he passed, everything was really sensitive to me about it. So I don’t think that Kelly really meant that. I think she’s just really vulnerable right now, because I think that Becky was putting Ozzy over, and I think that she’s a huge Ozzy fan, and I don’t think that she meant it that way, because she’s also a heel, and Ozzy was a big part of WWE, Hunter loved Ozzy so much, so I think that they kind of just wanted to pay a little tribute to him, and then also, shit on Birmingham. And I just think the timing was just so off. And obviously, Kelly and her family are going through a lot, and everything’s just really sensitive right now. So yeah, it was just not, it was just not the time. I disagree with the timing on that, but I do think that everyone at WWE loves Ozzy, as the world does. So yeah, it’s hard to say.”
